Composition for Point and Shoot Owners
An introduction into the compositional guidelines to take your images to the next level
Composition for Point and Shoot camera owners is designed to provide an introduction to and practice with composition tools to improve picture taking. Each week, the class will investigate composition guidelines in class, followed by a practicum to experience the guidelines using their own camera. Most of the classes will also have an assignment to allow the participants to individually use the classroom knowledge to capture images for review in the following week’s class. Trips to Chicago sites are planned to allow participants to take pictures in specific settings.
Participants are expected to have a working knowledge of computers, since they will be downloading images to their own computers outside class and then transferring images to a USB for review in class. Processing images in any given program will be left to the discretion of the student. All images will be reviewed electronically; it will not be necessary to print any copies.
The classes will include some instruction on the various camera settings, although the concentration will be on composition.
